Channel master

The Channel Master in TruePOS allows you to define and manage different sales or distribution channels for your branches. Channels help to categorise various modes of business operations, such as retail, wholesale, or online sales, for better organization and reporting.

Using the Channel Master screen, you can add new channels and manage their statuses effectively.

Menu Access  

Navigate to: Masters > Branch > Channel

Steps to Add a New Channel  

Step 1: Open the Channel Master Screen  

  • Navigate to Masters > Branch > Channel from the main menu.

 

 

Step 2: Add a New Channel  

  1. Click on the Add Channel button.

  2. Fill in the following details:

    • Channel Name:

      • Enter the name of the channel.

      • Example: "Retail," "Wholesale," "Online Store."

    • Status:

      • Set the channel's status as Active or Inactive.

      • Active channels are operational and visible for selection in transactions.

      • Inactive channels are hidden but can be reactivated when required.

 

 

  1. Click Save to add the new channel.


Fields in the Channel Master  

  1. Channel Name:

    • The unique identifier for the sales or distribution channel.

    • Helps categorize and segregate different modes of business operations.

  1. Status:

    • Determines whether the channel is operational.

    • Options:

      • Active: The channel is available for use.

      • Inactive: The channel is temporarily disabled and hidden.

Editing or Deleting a Channel  

  1. Edit a Channel:

    • Navigate to the Channel Master screen.

    • Select the channel you want to edit.

    • Update the details (e.g., name, status) and click Save.

  1. Delete a Channel:

    • Channels that are no longer required can be deleted.

    • Note: Channels linked to existing transactions cannot be deleted.

Use Cases  

  1. Retail and Wholesale Management:

    • Separate retail and wholesale operations by assigning transactions to their respective channels.

  1. Online and Offline Sales:

    • Track sales from your online store and physical outlets distinctly by creating separate channels for each.

  1. Inactive Channels:

    • Temporarily disable a channel if it is not operational, avoiding clutter in selection menus while keeping historical data intact.

  1. Can I rename a channel after creation?

    • Yes, you can edit the channel name from the Channel Master screen.

  1. What happens if I set a channel to inactive?

    • The channel will no longer appear in dropdowns or selection menus for new transactions but will still retain its historical data.

  1. Can I delete a channel linked to transactions?

    • No, channels with linked transactions cannot be deleted. You can set the channel to inactive instead.
