What is Damage and Wastage Entry?
Damage and Wastage
Damage - Damage is the alteration in the shape and package of an items.
Example: Suppose, if a Coke Can get alteration in the shape, but remains unaffected from breakage and leakage. In such cases you can not sell the items but return it back to supplier and can be adjusted with the next purchase through the Purchase Return.
Damage affect the items externally but not internally. It does not affect the quality and constituents of items and also remains unaffected from adulteration. Damage items minimize the complete losses in capital and commodity in comparison with wastage. The damage items can be returned back to the supplier.
Wastage - The action or process of losing items in capital or commodity is wastage.
Example: Suppose, if a Coke Can gets breakage or if their is any leakage, in such cases that item is waste. You can neither sell it to customer nor you can return it to the supplier.
The wastage may be results of breakage which is caused due to careless handling, leakage of goods or materials due to sudden shock over the package, due to temperature, etc. The wastage causes losses in the capital as it is non refundable. The wastage items can not be returned back to the supplier.
RPOS 6.5 help you to track the wastage and damaged items. Damage and wastage can be differentiated by -
- Item that can be returned back to supplier are damage items. To get more detail on damage click Damage
