What is Item Hierarchy Level?

 

The Item Hierarchy Level is used in Categorizing the items for better understanding, accessibility, and navigation. This can also help you for the Online website or Mobile App category structural designing.

What are the Benefits of Maintaining Item Hierarchy Level?

 

Item hierarchy can help businesses with inventory control and best customer experience. A more organized purchasing experience can help customers quickly locate the products they need according to features and price while exploring competing products.

 

For example a customer wants to create the Category as 'Wheat & Pulses' & Sub-Category as 'Ashirward'.

So this can be done in two ways :

 

  1. From the Category Master

  2. From Item Master-Category Tab

 

How to add new values at an Item hierarchy Level through Category Master ?

Like for creating a Category as 'Wheat & Pulses' follow the below-mentioned steps:

Step: 1 Go to Inventory > Category Master or you can use 'CTRL+SHIFT+C' key.



Step: 2 Now in 'Category Name' field, mention the name of the category as desired i.e. Wheat & Pulses.

Step: 3 In 'Category' field, select the type of Category from the drop-down i.e. 'Product Type'. To know more about Category Creation. Click here.

Step: 4 Then press 'F6' to save it.




In this way, you can add values into Item Hierarchy (Category) level.

 

To create a Sub-Category as "Ashirwad" follow the below-mentioned steps:

 

Step: 1 Now in 'Category Name' field, mention the name of the category as desired i.e. "Ashirwad".

Step: 2 In 'Category' field, select the type of Category from the drop-down i.e. 'Brand'.

Step: 3 Then press 'F6' to save it.



How to add new values at an Item hierarchy Level through Item Master- Category Tab ?

 

Step: 1 Go to Inventory > Masters > Item Master.



Step:2 Mention the name of the item & other necessary details as per the requirement.



Step3: Go to 'Category Tab' of the Item Master.

Step:4 Suppose the customer having one Main Category as 'Product Type' & Sub-Category as 'Brand' .

So the customer wanted to create 'Product Type' as 'Wheat & Pulses' for this press '+' key on the 'Product Type' window.



Step: 5 After that you will be redirected to 'Category Master' where in 'Category Name', field you need to mention the name of the category. Like  'Wheat & Pulses'.

Step: 6 Select the Category Type from the dropdown. Like 'Product Type'.

Step: 7 Click on 'Save' to save the details.


Step8: After that the category will be saved in your records, then you will again be redirected to the 'Item Master' screen.

Step9 : Then press 'Enter/F2' on 'Product Type' field.

Step10 : Select the created Category from the LOV. As we've selected as 'Wheat & Pulses'.




Similarly, for creating the Sub Category as 'Ashirwad' follow the below steps:

 

Step1: Simply press '+' key on 'Brand' field.


Step: 2 After that you will be redirected to 'Category Master' where in 'Category Name', field you need to mention the name of the sub-category. Like  'Ashirwad'.

Step: 3 Select the Sub Category from the dropdown. Like 'Brand'.

Step: 4 Click on 'Save' to save the details.



Step5: After that the Sub-category will be saved in your records, then you will again be redirected to the 'Item Master' screen.

Step6: Then press 'Enter/F2' on 'Product Type' field.

Step7: Select the created Sub-Category from the LOV. As we've selected as 'Ashirwad'.




In this way you can add new values at an Item hierarchy level in RetailEasy which can help you further to analyses the reports based on categories & sub-categories & also helps you to organise the product in your store in a better way.
