Concepts of PA, FT & DSD.
Put Away (PA) items: Put away items are the items which will be purchased in Bulk (Example. Loose Grocery Products like Sugar, Rice) and stored(PUT) in warehouse, and they will be repacked in different weights like 500gm, 1KG 2 KG etc.. and transferred(away) to the outlets. Nowadays, these are crucial to have as by repacking the business owners can earn more money out of that.
Flow Through (FA) items: Flow Through Items are nothing but the FMCG items or the Packed items which are not stored in the warehouses, rather transferred to outlets for direct selling. They will be purchased in the main warehouse and then transferred to their respective branches. Normally their stocks are not maintained in the Main Warehouses. Flow Through Items are on always high demand and all the outlets will request the same to the warehouse through Stock Transfer Indent. Thus, the over all volume of qty in the PO will increase, resulting in higher discounts on the products based on qty and higher margin as well.
Direct Store Delivery (DSD) items: DSD stands for Direct Store Delivery. Items like Milk, Bread and other items which are required in a daily basis are denoted as DSD in the item master as the SKU type. Indent generation can be automated for the DSD type items. Then we don't have to generate the indents manually. Based on the Minimum Stock and Maximum stock it will be generated. To do that we have a configuration. Go to Admin > Configuration > Setup Configurations Settings. Then locate Auto Indent Settings. Set the SKUTYPE Based Indent as YES. Direct Store Delivery as Direct to CP. Put Away as To All Locations. Flow Through as To All Locations.
