What is an Item master and it's purpose
An item master is a record of all the key information about a particular item of inventory.
An item refers to a thing or product that is to be sold at a particular price. The purpose of this item creation is, you can know the date of manufacture, a short description of the inventory item, its cost, as well as information about current stock levels.

How to create an Item in the Item Master?
If a restaurant has certain menus set to be sold at the store, those products or times can be imported to POS quickly and easily, so that you can refer or edit it whenever you wish.
➤ First go to Master > Under Menu > select Item.
➤ At the right end there will an option as Add item. Click on it.
➤ Now enter all the details like Name, Preparation Status, Category, Food type, Price.
☆ In the Name field, enter the item name.
☆ In the Category field, select a category of the item or create a new Category.
☆ In the Tax type filed, select the tax type as GST/VAT.
☆ In the Color field, select a color for the item.
☆ You can upload the relevant image to the item by selecting the Upload image available in the right corner.
☆ In the Kitchen instruction field you can mention some instructions so it helps to capture the default kitchen instruction for a particular item in the KOT print.
➤ UOM Mapping
The Unit of Measurement is used when we need to sell an item in a particular unit. For example kilograms, liters, grams etc. By doing so you don't have to assign it each and every time.
☆ Enter the base UOM, Sub UOM, and Sub UOM conversion details.
☆ Eg: In base UOM give liters, in sub UOM give milliliter, in Sub UOM conversion give 1000.
➤ Inventory
If you want to save money by avoiding food and production wastage you can use this feature to manage your inventory and get daily reports.
☆ You can select inventory applicable as 'yes' if you want maintain stock of a item.
☆ Enter the minimum and maximum quantity.
➤ Sales
☆ Under the Sales Segment you can enter number of decimals for fractional quantity. Eg: If you want to mention quantity as 1.25 then you can give it as 2 .
☆ Select the discount type as Amount/Percentage.
➤ Pricing
☆ In Variant select if the item is small, medium, or large.
☆ You can set the selling price, packing amount, discount, etc as per your wish.
➤ In Online Sales you can select if it must be in the recommended item list and also you can write a description for it.
➤ Taxes
☆ Mention if the Tax Inclusive is yes/no.
☆ If yes then tax will be included in MRP.
☆ If the item is exclusive then tax will be calculated separately.
➤ In Item Modifiers you can map the modifiers here. Modifiers are nothing but the supplementary given along with the main item. Eg: If Ice cream is the main item, then you can give nuts and choco chips as modifiers.
➤ Click on Save.
Your created item will be displayed on the item masters page. You can edit it at anytime. By creating an item you don't have to assign cost, variant each and every time.You can select the item and directly go to the billing page. Because of this billing will be made faster. Tracking orders are made easier as the order date, created date will be updated automatically.
