How to setup your hardware?

Introduction

Welcome to our guide on setting up your hardware. This document aims to help you understand the basics of hardware and the necessary steps to set up your system to ensure a smooth installation process.

 What is hardware?

Hardware refers to the physical components of your POS system that interact with software to process transactions. This includes devices like computers, display screens, printers, barcode scanners, and card readers. It is important to ensure you have all the necessary hardware components before starting the installation process.

 Steps to prepare for installation

Before we begin, please make sure to follow the guidelines provided in this document. Additionally, refer to the links included for detailed instructions and resources.

 1. System configuration check

To avoid performance issues, it is essential to verify that your system meets the necessary requirements for our POS software. Please refer to the system configuration guide: https://www.gofrugal.com/system-requirement.html

 2. Supported peripherals

Ensure all peripherals you intend to use are supported by our software. You can find a list of supported accessories here: https://www.gofrugal.com/pos-accessories-supported.html

 3. Basic system settings and cleanup

Before installation, perform basic system maintenance.

  • Clean temporary data: Clear out unnecessary files from your system.

  • Use system tools: Utilize tools like "Disk Cleanup" and "Defragment & Optimize Drives" to keep your system running smoothly.

  • Increase virtual memory: Adjust your system settings to increase virtual memory for better performance.

 4. Security settings for HDD partitions

Ensure that the "Everyone" user has access to the security settings for the HDD partitions where the software will be installed. This step is crucial to avoid permission issues during installation.

 5. Installation drive

For optimal performance and data management, Gofrugal will be installed on a drive other than the C Drive. So, the drive partition should be done. It is easy to create an additional hard drive partition on your computer by following the simple steps.

  1. Open disk management:

Press "Win + X" and select "Disk Management".

  1. Shrink volume:

Right-click on an existing partition and select "Shrink Volume".

Enter the space to shrink and click "Shrink".

  1. Create new volume:

Right-click the unallocated space and select "New Simple Volume".

Follow the wizard to assign a drive letter and format the partition.

Your new partition will be created and ready for use.

 6.   Server and client system installation

The installation process for the server and client systems depends on your purchase agreement. Follow the specific instructions provided with your purchase.

 7. Printer and peripheral configuration

Before software installation, set up and configure all printers and other peripherals, such as pole displays and cash drawers.

    • Cash drawer setup: The cash drawer should be connected to the printer according to the vendor's instructions.

    • Pole display configuration: The supplier will provide port settings based on the device brand.

 Conclusion

By following these steps, you can ensure a smooth and efficient POS software installation. If you have any questions, our support team is available to help.
