How to configure Hyper Terminal Configuration?

Hyper Terminal Configuration
Hyper Terminal Configuration is used for testing the connectivity between the peripheral device and computer. It helps in getting the test response of the peripheral devices and also the details of Port Settings.

Note:
  • Windows 7 and Windows 8  users needs to install Hyper Terminal Configuration executable file. After Installing the executable file, please follow the Steps to configure the Hyper Terminal Configuration
  • Window XP users, please follow the path given below
    • Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Communications > HyperTerminal.

Steps to configure the Hyper Terminal Configuration

  1. Click HyperTerminal icon. The Location Information screen is displayed.



  2. In the Country/region field, click drop down button. A list of Countries is displayed, select the Country.
  3. In the Area Code field, enter the area code.
    Note: Enter your city code number. For example: Chennai User - 033.
  4. In The phone system at this location used: field, select from the option given below
    • Tone dialing - If you are using the method used by all conventional dial telephones to make a call.
      • Select Tone Dialing.
    • Pulse dialing - If you are using the method used by nearly all modern domestic telephones to make a call
  5. Click OK.
  6. The Phone and Modem screen is displayed



    • Verify the Area Code.
  7. Click OK.
  8. The Connection Description pop-up screen is displayed.



  9. In the Name field, enter the name of new connection.
  10. From the Icon list, select an icon.
  11. Click OK.
  12. The Connect To pop-up screen is displayed.



  13. In the Connect Using field, click drop down button. A list of port is displayed, select the port to which you want to connect the peripheral device.
    Note:
    • Click Configure, to configure new port for your system.
    • In the Detect Carrier Loss field, right click to select. It helps in detecting the carrier loss.
  14. Click OK.
  15. The COM1 Properties pop-up screen is displayed.



  16. In the Port Settings section, the default settings is displayed. Click OK.
    Note: You can modify the port setting to get synchronized with peripheral device in the field shown below

    • In the Bits Per Second field, click the drop down button. A list of values is displayed, select one bits per second values. Click OK.
    • In the Data bits field, click the drop down button. A list of values is displayed, select one data bits values. Click OK.
    • In the Parity field, click the drop down button. A list of values is displayed, select one parity values. Click OK.
    • In the Stop bits field, click the drop down button. A list of values is displayed, select one Stop bits values. Click OK.
    • In the Flow control filed, click the drop down button. A list of values is displayed, select one flow control values. Click OK.
    • Click Restore Defaults button to restore the default settings.
  17. The <<Connection Name>> - Hyper Terminal screen is displayed.



Example of Hyper Terminal for Weighing Scale: Test the hyper terminal by putting some weight on the weighing scale. The Hyper Terminal will display the weight.
