Item EAN/UPC entry

Item EAN/UPC entry

Overview

EAN (European Article Number) and UPC (Universal Product Code) are widely used barcode systems in Europe and the U.S., respectively. TruePOS allows users to associate multiple EANs or UPCs with a single or multiple items for seamless barcode scanning during sales, purchase, and inventory operations.

Purpose

The EAN/UPC Entry feature helps businesses:

  • Associate multiple EAN or UPC codes with their corresponding items.

  • Quickly populate item details by scanning barcodes in sales, purchase, or inventory screens.

  • Ensure accurate item retrieval and pricing.

For Example:

A supermarket sells multiple brands of milk, all with the same product name but different packaging and barcodes.

Challenge Without EAN/UPC Entry:

  • The cashier needs to search for the milk brand manually in the POS system, which increases checkout time and could lead to errors.

Solution with EAN/UPC Entry in TruePOS:

    • The supermarket manager uses the Item EAN/UPC Entry screen to associate barcodes with each milk variant. For example:

         Milk Brand A (1L): EAN Code - 8901234567890

         Milk Brand B (1L): EAN Code - 8901234567889
