Repacking refers to the process of dividing larger quantities of items into smaller, more manageable packages. This can include taking a single large package and separating it into multiple smaller ones.
Some products are purchased in large quantities but are offered for sale in smaller sizes. For instance, staples such as rice, sugar, pulses, and grains are typically purchased in bulk (e.g., 50 KG, 100 KG) and subsequently sold to consumers in smaller packages, such as 500 grams, 1 KG, 2 KG, or 5 KG. This process of repacking is crucial, as a 100 KG bag is opened and portioned into 100 individual 1 KG bags according to customer demand.
Repacking offers the following advantages:
- Efficient monitoring of the quantity of items.
- Minimization of wastage by repacking items in the right quantity.
- Comprehensive tracking of details such as the number and quantity of bulk items and repacked items.
- Effective management of the inward and outward flow of bulk items to repacked items.
- Enhanced utilization of the workforce.
