What is a Pole Display? How to configure it?

Pole Display

Pole displays are electronic display devices with Light Emitting Diode (LED) screen mounted on a post that displays the message for total payment and other related information to the customer side. Messages like marketing messages (For example - Thank you / Welcome) can also be configured in the pole displays. For using pole display, proper driver software is mandatory. Most of Pole Display are connected directly to a serial port with Correct Serial Port (COM) number.
     Many pole display devices come with double-side displays that both the customer and counter person side. Both can see the information on the display at the time of buying goods.


Pre-Configuration check list for Pole Display
  • Make sure the device is found in the device manager and note the port assigned to it, for example - com -1.
  • Verify the Hyper Terminal Configuration, whether the connecting device is detecting or not. For More detail on the hyper terminal configuration, see Hyper Terminal Configuration
Steps for Pole Display
  1. Click Tools > Configuration Manager > Device Settings.
  2. The Device Configuration screen is displayed, click Peripheral Settings.



  3. Click Pole Display.
  4. The Peripheral Settings [Pole Display] screen is displayed.



  5. In the Pole Display Enable field, press SPACE BAR to select.
    Note: On enabling the
    Pole Display Enable, makes the pole display ready for use.
  6. Based on the device manager, the changes in configuration are made for the option given below
    • Connect Using
    • Bit Per Second
    • Data Bits
    • Parity
    • Stop Bits
    • Flow Control

  7. In the Default Message-1 field, the message is displayed upon initializing the application and remains in the display until the sales screen is opened.
    For Example: Welcome to GoFrugal.
  8. In the Default Message-2 field, the message is displayed at the time of customer selection in the billing screen.
    For Example: We are here to serve.
  9. In the Exit Message-1 field, the message is displayed after saving the bill.
    For Example: Thanks for Coming, Visit Again.
  10. In the Exit Message-2 field, the message is displayed when the system is is idle state.
    For Example: Next Person.
  11. In the Brightness field, enter the brightness value for the pole display screen.
    Note: Select in between 1 to 4 based on the brightness of the pole display.
  12. In the Blink Speed field, enter the blink speed for the message.
    Note: The blinks speed is number of blink per minute. Select in between 1 to 20 based on the blink speed.
  13. In the Scroll Speed field, enter the scroll value for the message.
    Note: The scroll speed is movement speed of the message. Select in between 30 to 90 based on the scrolling.
  14. In the Default Message-1 special effects field, press F2. A list of Special effects is displayed, select the effect from the option given below
    • BLINK - to blink the default message-1
    • NONE - to make no effect
    • SCROLL - to scroll the message from from right to left
  15. In the Default Message-2 special effects field, press F2. A list of Special effects is displayed, select the effect from the option given below
    • BLINK - to blink the default message-1
    • NONE - to make no effect
    • SCROLL - to scroll the message from from right to left
  16. In the Exit Message-1 special effects field, press F2. A list of Special effects is displayed, select the effect from the option given below
    • BLINK - to blink the default message-1
    • NONE - to make no effect
    • SCROLL - to scroll the message from from right to left
  17. In the Exit Message-2 special effects field, press F2. A list of Special effects is displayed, select the effect from the option given below
    • BLINK - to blink the default message-1
    • NONE - to make no effect
    • SCROLL - to scroll the message from from right to left
  18. In the Printer Name field, enter the Printer Sharing Name.
    For example: OKI C7500 PS(MS)
  19. In the Show MRP Value field, press SPACE BAR to select.
    Note: On enabling the Show MRP Value, the MRP value is displayed in the pole display.
  20. Click Save.



  21. A message Do you want to save current changes? is displayed. Click Yes.
  22. Click Exit to close the screen.



  23. A message Do you want to exit from this screen? is displayed. Click Yes.
