 Shelf Talker 

Purpose  

The Shelf Talker feature is used to create and print price display labels for items in stores. These labels help showcase pricing, discounts, and promotional offers directly on shelves, improving product visibility and customer engagement.

Menu Access   - To access the Shelf Talker screen:

Go to Inventory → More → Shelf Talker

 

Home Page - Shelf Talker

This screen allows users to generate and print shelf labels for products which are already saved with details. Users can select the store location, view product details and get the Print directly.

 

 

Steps to Add New “Shelf Talker”

1.Click on "Add Shelf Talker"

 

 

 

 

Screen Overview  

The Shelf Talker screen allows users to filter, select, and configure items for label printing.

1. Filters Section  

  • Location: Select the required store from the Drop Down (e.g., DIA MART - Chennai)

             Note: All location filter was not applicable

  • Category: Choose classification type (e.g., Department, Color, Manufacture, Type, etc.)

  • Sub Category: Filter items further based on selected category

  • Clear Filters: Reset all applied filters

 

Note: Items can be loaded based on the selected Category filters, if required.

 

2. Item Selection Section  

  • Scan/Search Bar:
    Scan the barcode or manually enter the item code to add items and enter.

  • + Load Products: Load items based on the selected filters.

 

3.Selecting Products  

  • Click + Load Products to open the Select Products window.

  • (Optional) Apply filters to refine items:

    • Code: Search by item code

    • Item: Search by item name (e.g., “surf”)

    • Alias: Search by item alias

    • EAN/UPC: Search by barcode

  • Choose a condition (e.g., equals, contains) and enter the value.

  • Click Search to view matching items.

  • Select required items using checkboxes.

  • Click Done to add items to the Selected Items list.

 

  • Clear Items:
    Remove all selected items from the list.

The Clear Items option allows you to quickly remove all selected items from the list in the Shelf Talker screen. This is useful when you want to reset your selection and start fresh.

Confirmation Pop-up  

Once you click Clear Items, a confirmation pop-up will appear with the message:

 

4.To Configure the Price Format Options

Available Price Format Options  

The following price formats are available for configuring shelf labels:

  1. Rs. X Only
    Displays only the final selling price.

  1. Rs. X Off on MRP
    Shows the discount amount reduced from the MRP.

  1. X% Off on MRP
    Displays the discount as a percentage on the MRP.

  1. Buy X Get Y
    Used for promotional offers (e.g., Buy 1 Get 1).

5.Round Off Options  

If any price having decimal value in that case based on the Round off configured which will be round off.

  • None: No rounding applied. Exact value is displayed (₹19.75 → ₹19.75).

  • Nearer: Rounded to nearest whole number (₹19.75 → ₹20).

  • Lower: Always rounded down (₹19.50 → ₹19).

  • Upper: Always rounded up (₹19.75 → ₹20).

 

 

6.UOM Type & UOM Qty Configuration  

  The UOM Type and UOM Qty fields are applicable only for the following Price Formats:

  • Rs. X Only

  • Rs. X Off on MRP

 

 

Why Applicable Only for these Price Formats?  

  • These formats deal with actual price values (₹).

  • UOM (Unit of Measure) helps define price per unit (e.g., per Kg, per Litre).

  • The system uses UOM to calculate and display unit-based pricing.

 

 

 

To Configure UOM Type & UOM Qty

Note: The Price format must be selected either Rs. X Only or Rs. X Off on MRP then "UOM" will be enabled.

Select UOM Type  - Choose the required unit from the dropdown:

    • Per Kg

    • Per Lt

    • (Other configured units)

 Enter UOM Quantity - In the UOM Qty field, enter the quantity value

* UOM Price Format: “Rs. X Only”  

Example (as per highlighted )  

  • Selling Price: 600

  • UOM Qty: 5

  • UOM Type: Per Lt

Calculation Logic:

  • Selling Price ÷ UOM Qty = Price per unit

  • 600÷ 5 Lt= ₹120 per Lt

 

 

 

 

 

UOM-Based "RS X Only" Print Display

 

  

 

UOM Price Format: Rs. X Off on MRP"

 

Example (as per highlighted )  

  • Selling Price: ₹750

  • MRP 800

  • UOM Qty: 10

  • UOM Type: Per Kg

 

 

Once UOM is provided, system automatically displays:

  • Total Discount: ₹50 Off

  • Unit Price Calculation: ₹75 Per Kg

📌 Calculation Logic:

  • Selling Price ÷ UOM Qty = Price per unit

  • ₹750 ÷ 10 Kg = ₹75 per Kg

7.Print Profile

A Print Profile defines how a shelf label is printed, including:

  • Label size

  • Number of labels per sheet

  • Layout (price, product name, offers)

 

Available Options  

 

  • A4/1 – 1 large label (best for promotions)

  • A4/2 – A4/2 size labels

  • A4/4 – A4/4  standard labels (most used)

  • A4/9 – 9 small labels

  • A4/20 - 20 small label size in (Bulk)

 

No of lablel to be Printed in Single A4 sheet

  • A4/1 – 1 large label (best for promotions)

If the Print Profile is configured as “A4/1”, it means one large label will be printed per A4 sheet.Used for big promotional labels where full-page visibility is required.

 

  • A4/2 – 2 medium labels

 

Purpose: If the  Print Profile is configured as “A4/2”, it means two medium-sized labels will be printed on a single A4 sheet.

It Used when you need moderate-sized labels, allowing two labels per page for efficient printing.

 

  • A4/4 – 4 standard labels (most used)

 

Purpose: If the Print Profile is configured as “A4/4”, it means four standard-sized labels will be printed on a single A4 sheet. Most commonly used for regular labeling needs, balancing size and print efficiency.

 

  • A4/9 – 9 small labels

 

Purpose :If the item is configured as “A4/9”, it means nine small labels will be printed on a single A4 sheet.

Used for compact labeling, allowing more labels per page for better paper utilization.

 

 

*A4/20 -20 Small labels

Purpose:If the item is configured as “A4/20”, it means twenty small labels will be printed on a single A4 sheet. Ideal for bulk labeling, maximizing label count per page and saving paper.

 

 

 

Print Profile – Label Slotting

 

Purpose:  The Print Profile determines how labels are automatically arranged on an A4 sheet during printing, ensuring proper alignment without manual setup.

 

 

How it works (Real-time): When you select a print profile for an item, the system places the label in the correct position based on the layout (number of labels per sheet).

 

 

Examples:

  • A4/4: 4 labels per page → If you print 3 labels, they will occupy 3 slots on the same sheet  remain empty.

Total Label Qty:3 for A4/4

Print Profile – Label Slotting

The Print Profile determines how labels are automatically arranged on an A4 sheet, ensuring proper alignment without manual setup.

 

Example:

  • Print Profile: A4/4

  • Total Label Qty for A4/4: 4

 

  • Print Profile:A4/9

  • Total Label Qty for A4/9: 3

 

Result for Print Profile A4/4:

  • All 4 labels fill the 4 slots on one A4 sheet)

 

 

Result for Print Profile :A4/9

  • Print Profile:A4/9

  • Total Label Qty for A4/9: 3

 

Refer the attached image 3 labels occupy 3 of the 9 slots; the remaining 6 slots stay empty.

 

 

 

 

Note: To avoid empty slots, group and print labels using the same Print Profile so that sheets are fully utilized without leftover spaces.

 

 

 

8. Label Qty

      Label Qty (Label Quantity) refers to the number of labels you want to print for an item.

Example:

  • If you select Print Profile A4/4 and enter Label Qty = 6, the system will print 6 labels, filling 1 full sheet (4 labels) and 2 labels on the next sheet.

 

 

 

9.Print Preview

Print Preview allows you to view the shelf label before printing, without saving the data.

 

 

10.Print   

Print allows you to directly take a printout of shelf labels without saving the data.

 

 

 

 

11.Save Function  

  • Once saved, the configured items and their selected Price Format will be retained successfully.

 

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

12. Once items are saved in Shelf Talker, they will be displayed in the "Shelf Talker" list.
This screen allows users to:

 

  • Select the "Location"

  • Search for specific items with "Item code" or "Item name"

  • Items can be printed directly without reconfiguration.
