The Bar Code Weighing Scale in RPOS6 is a pre-billing system that generates a barcode for the weighable/countable items to be billed and simplifies the task at the billing counter. The system includes a weighing machine and a printer to print a barcode label for the weighed items. The printed label has details like barcode, weight, and rate of the item. The barcode label stickers are then put on the pack of items. When the customer carries the packet to the bill counter, the salesman has to just scan the barcode for billing. This enables easy, quick, and efficient billing for the person at the billing counter.
Barcode Weighing Scale is useful in the places where the accuracy is required for the items sold in weights or pieces.
Barcode Weighing scale items are classified into two groups:
Weighable items: items like fruits, vegetables & groceries are weighable. When packed in a single packet, these items need to be weighed exactly before billing.
Countable items: There are also other items that come in pieces like eggs, coconuts, etc. which can not be weighed. Instead, they are counted (in units).
Weighing process:
The weighing scale barcode is a proper method for weighing the packed items before billing. After picking the items in a packet, the packet is weighed on the weighing scale. The operator enters the code for the weighed item. Upon weighing the packet, the weighing scale measures the weight of the items in the packet and calculates the rate for the item. For countable items, the operator manually enters the number of pieces of the items inside the packet and the rate of the items is calculated. Based on the weight/count and rate of the item(s), a barcode label is generated. The generated barcode label is then printed and pasted on the packet.
Example of a Barcode format:
A barcode consists of a prefix, item code, weight, and price amount.
Example: W361802000004000
where,
W refers to the prefix
3618 refers to the Item code
02000 refers to the weight in grams
004000 refers to cost price
Note:
i) The barcode format may vary depending upon the weighing scale manufacturer/vendor.
ii) The barcode Weighing Scale is not supported in Touch-POS.
Barcode Weighing Scale Setup includes:
i) Barcode Weighing Scale - Item Master Configuration: It helps in creating the item master for the barcode weighable scale. For more details on the steps, click on this link. ii) Weighing Scale Configuration and Uploading the Items from POS to Scale: Weighing scale configuration helps in configuring the weighing scale barcode for different items. For more details on the steps of weighing scale configuration, see Weighing Scale Configuration. iii) Uploading the Items from POS to Scale: The RPOS6 generates the data based on the vending machine format. There is the option to save the data in a '.csv/.xml' file anywhere in the system. Uploading of the data from the saved '.csv/.xml' file is done on the basis of the barcode weighing scale. For more details on Uploading the Items from POS to Scale, see Uploading the Items. iv) Scanning the Items from the Barcode Generated by Scale and Selling the Items through Barcode Printing: In the scanning process, RPOS6 tries to understand the data of the Barcode Weighing Scale which are generated through the Barcode Weighing Scale machine. The Barcode Weighing scale vendor needs to verify the barcode and create it in such a format that is understood by RPOS6. For more details on Scanning the Items from the Barcode Generated by Scale, see Scanning the Items. v) Sales through Barcode Printing - Weighing Scale: The Sales through the Barcode Printing - Weighing scales help in verifying the items through the barcode.
