HQ Cloud Server Vs HQ Physical Server

HQ Cloud Server Vs HQ Physical Server

What is a Cloud Server?

A cloud server is a logical server that is built, hosted, and delivered through a cloud computing platform over the internet. Unlike traditional servers, cloud servers can be accessed remotely via a cloud service provider, while still possessing similar capabilities and functionalities.

Cloud servers are often referred to as virtual servers or virtual private servers. In simple terms, a cloud server allows users to store and access data and programs over the internet rather than relying on physical servers.

Why Cloud Server?

- No initial investment (CapEx) needed for server hardware or operating systems.
- Easy to upgrade with a cloud solution (pay as you grow).
- No IT resources, a dedicated room with air conditioning, or specialized power supply are required for server maintenance.
- Data safety is guaranteed at over 99%.
- No additional costs for static IP addresses, firewalls, or maintenance.
- Low downtime.

Benefits Comparison:

Points to be understood and acknowledged by the customer when choosing an on-premise physical server over a cloud server:

1. The customer must own the Linux OS, and the installation and configuration of Oracle will need to be completed by the customer.
2. Port forwarding of certain ports is required.
3. A static IP must be purchased at an additional cost. It’s important to note that static IPs offer limited protection against spyware and cookies, so appropriate precautions should be taken.
4. Managing security and firewalls is crucial. There is a risk of hard disk failure due to power fluctuations or virus attacks, leading to higher maintenance demands for on-premise servers.
5. Adequate resources are necessary to manage the hardware and physical environment effectively.
6. Any reinstallation required due to hardware failure, corruption, data loss, or server upgrades may incur additional costs and could take 3 to 4 days to complete.

How easy is it to purchase the Cloud Server?

To configure for installation, simply create an account on Amazon (example: http://aws.amazon.com/) or another website, then provide your IAM user credentials to the Gofrugal implementation team.
