Parent Items are the ones, which we purchase in boxes or bags and sell them in Boxes or bags only.
Child Items are the ones, which we sell individually and the stock gets deducted from the Parent Items.
Suppose you purchase a pencil box, and you sell that in box as well as in pieces. In that case, we have a solution called parent and child concept, where the pencil box will be the parent and the single piece will be the child. Then you will only maintain the pencil box stock. When you sell a single pencil, stock will be deducted from the box only, there is no need to maintain any stock for the child items.
Step 1: Go to Inventory > Masters > Items
Step 3: Click on the Repackage option under Caption and then activate the Values (Put a Tick ✔) for Preparation Status, Bulk/Parent Item & Repack Conversion (Grams) if those are not activated.
Step 4: Click on Apply to save the settings.
There, select the Preparation Status as Parent for the Parent Items (For example, Pencil Box).
Step 5: Keep the Bulk/Parent Item value as None.
Step 6: Set the Repack Conversion (Gram) as desired. (For example 20 as per the screenshot)
Step 7: Click on F6 Save button to save the settings.
Step 1: Go to Inventory > Masters > Items
Step 2: After activation while creating an Item, fill up all the relevant details and go to Repackage Tab.There, select the Preparation Status as Child for the Child Items (For example, Pencil per piece).
Step 3: Select the Bulk/Parent Item and select the Parent item name from the list. For example Pencil Box.
Step 4: Set the Repack Conversion (Gram) as 1 for the child Items or based on conversion.
Step 5: Click on F6 Save to save the settings.
This Parent and Child concept is used to simplify the conversion process and maintain the stock only for the Parent Items. Child Items will not have any stock. If we sell any child item, the stock will be deducted from the Parent Item.
