Purpose
This document explains how to enable or disable columns in GoAct Smart Reports for both on-screen viewing and exporting.
Benefits
Customizing column visibility helps you create clean, focused, and meaningful reports that align with your business requirements.
Steps to Enable or Disable Columns
1. Open GoAct and select any required report.
2. Apply Filters: Choose the required date range and use the standard or advanced filters to generate the report.
3. Open Report Settings: Click the Settings icon and select Report Settings.
4. View Column Settings: In the Display section, you will find the following options:
Column Enable/Disable
PC Column Enable/Disable
Tablet Column Enable/Disable
Export Column Enable/Disable
5. Enable or Disable Columns:
To enable a column, check the white box next to it.
To disable a column, uncheck the box.
Some columns appear highlighted in yellow. These columns cannot be disabled directly from the column settings. This behaviour is based on the report’s underlying configuration.
🔶 What Yellow Columns Indicate
A column may be highlighted in yellow if it is:
Used for grouping data
Included in a calculation, summary, or expression
Part of custom mappings defined for the report
These columns are required for the report to function correctly.
🚫 Why Yellow Columns Cannot Be Disabled
If a column is part of:
Group By
Computation or summary logic
Mapping or derived field logic
…it must remain active. Removing it without adjusting the configuration would affect how the report processes data.
✅ How to Disable Yellow Columns
If you need to hide a yellow-highlighted column, follow these steps:
Identify its usage: Determine if the column is used in grouping, mapping, or computations.
Open Report Configuration: Navigate to Smart Report Designer or Mapping Settings.
Locate the Section: Check the Grouping, Computation, or Custom Field Mapping areas.
Remove the Column: Unassign the column from Group By, Summary, or Expression fields.
Save the Configuration
Return to Column Settings:
Refresh the report and open the column visibility panel.
The column will now appear as a regular (non-yellow) field.
Disable the Column the column to hide it.
6. Configure Export Columns : Use the Export Column Enable/Disable option to choose which columns should appear in exported reports. The enable/disable process remains the same.
Conclusions: Managing column visibility allows you to create customized report views that show only the data you need. This improves clarity, reduces clutter, and helps you analyze your reports more effectively.
