How to format serial number based on item count length in GoSure (RetailEasy7) ?

Serialisation is used to track the valuable items at every point in the supply chain. A proper serial number in designated format makes it easier for person at each such stage to track the item efficiently. But in some scenarios, there is some inconvenience in reading the serial number because of the poor format in which it is printed. To overcome this, option is provided in GoSure to format the serial number.

Benefits of formatting serial number based on item count length:

This option is used to append the Serial numbers with zeros before them, based on the item count length, thus making the serial number more readable.

How to format serial number based on item count length in GoSure?

Note: The digits in serial number should be less than the Item count to use this option.

Step 1: In the GRN web app screen, fill the supplier details, invoice details and select serialised item from LOV.

Step 2: Enable "Format serial number based on item count length", enter the first serial number in 'Serial1' field and count in the 'Item count' field. If you want to generate more than one serial number, enable "Auto Generate Serial numbers".

Step 3: Click on "Generate" to generate the serialised barcodes. If the Serial number has less digits than item count, then zero is appended before the serial number.

Example 1: In the above example, the 'Serial1' field is 1 and item count is 10, therefore in the generated serial numbers, Zero is appended for numbers from 1 to 9 and number 10 is displayed as such without zero being appended before the number.

Example 2:

In the above example, the Serial field is 10 and item count is 5. Since the item count is less than the serial field, zero is not appended before the barcodes. For this serial number beginning with 10, zero will be appended only when item count is 100.

Note: This option can be used when we make either GRN for Serialised items or GRN for multi-serialised items and even if the GRN is made for free serialised items

Conclusion:

This option to format the serial number by appending zero, based on item count length is useful to increase the readability of the barcode and helps to track the valuable items more efficiently throughout the supply chain.
