Filter
This tool is mainly designed for viewing charts according to your recommended preferences, such as:
Date range
Date range options, such as daily, monthly, or a custom selection that suits your needs.
Use mean cut-off
The way items are scattered is based on their respective margin and quantity, which can be higher or lower than the cut-off set by the user. Users can either specify a precise cut-off margin and quantity or select the mean cut-off option to work with average values.
Imagine you have a collection of items, each with its own margin (profit percentage) and quantity (number of units). You want to "scatter" these items based on these attributes, either above or below a certain threshold or "cut-off" point.
Cut-off methods
Exact cut-off:
You specify a fixed margin and quantity as the cut-off point.
Items with a margin and quantity above this threshold will be grouped together, and those below will be in another group.
Mean cut-off:
You enable the mean cut-off option.
The system calculates the average margin and quantity of all items.
This average becomes the dynamic cut-off point.
Items with margin and quantity above the average go in one group, and those below in another.
Visualizing the scattering
Consider a scatter plot where the X-axis represents the margin and the Y-axis represents the quantity. Each item is plotted as a point on this graph. The cut-off (either exact or mean) defines a line or region on this plot. Items above the line or region are in one group, and those below are in another.
Example
Say you have the following items:
Item | Margin | Quantity |
A | 20% | 100 |
B | 15% | 50 |
C | 25% | 150 |
D | 10% | 30 |
Exact cut-off
If you set the cut-off at 20% margin and 100 quantity, items A and C would be in one group, and B and D in another.
Mean cut-off:
The average margin is (20+15+25+10)/4 = 17.5%
The average quantity is (100+50+150+30)/4 = 82.5
Items A and C would be above this average and in one group, while B and D would be below and in another.
Item scattering applications
This scattering technique can be used for various purposes.
Inventory management: Grouping items based on profitability and stock levels.
Marketing: Segmenting customers based on purchase behavior and spending habits.
Financial analysis: Categorizing investments based on risk and return.
Data science: Dividing data into training and testing sets.
By understanding the concept of item scattering, you can effectively analyze and categorize data to make informed decisions.
Brand and category
You can analyze data based on a specific brand and its category.
