Mapping of Function keys

Purpose: It allows users to customize key combinations for various functions such as New, Edit, Clear, Save, Exit, and View.

 

Note: It is advisable to use default function keys as they are, but if they are inconvenient, they can be modified.

Steps to Map Function Keys:

Step 1: Navigate to Tools > Configuration > Function Key Mapping.

Step 2: In the Screen Name field, select the screen where the key combinations need to be applied, such as Sale Bill Screen, Sale Order Screen, or Purchase Invoice.

Step 3: The Function Name field displays the available functions whose key combinations can be modified, such as Edit, View, and Print.

Step 4: In the Function Key field, select the function key (ranging from F1 to F12) from the dropdown menu.

Step 5: In the Special Key field, select the special key combination combined with the function key to trigger the function on the selected screen. Examples include Normal, Shift + F1, and Ctrl + F4.

Step 6: Click Update or press the F4 key to save the configuration.

Step 7: Click Exit or press the F10 key to close and navigate out of the Function Key Mapping screen.

 

 

Important: To view the reflected changes, log out and log in again, then check the corresponding screens.

FAQ's 

Can I assign the same function key to multiple functions? 

No, each function key must be unique for a particular screen to avoid conflicts in execution.

Why are my custom function key mappings not working? 

Ensure that you have logged out and logged in again after making changes. Also, check if any other application is overriding the key combination.

What should I do if a function key does not respond? 

Check if another function is using the same key combination. Try changing the function key and testing again.

Is function key mapping user-specific? 

If assigned at the user level, function key mappings will be applicable only to that particular user.

Can I use a combination of function keys and special keys? 

Yes, you can use special keys like Shift, Ctrl, and Alt in combination with function keys.

Do function key mappings apply across all users? 

Mappings can be configured globally or for specific user roles as required.

What if I accidentally delete a function key mapping? 

You can reconfigure the function key by selecting the function and assigning a new key combination.
