Steps to configure Barcode Scanner in RPOS6

A barcode scanner is an electrical device used for scanning and reading the information of the barcode. It is also known as a price scanner or POS scanner.
Barcode Scanner is integrated with RPOS 6. Connect the barcode scanner with a computer, through the Line Printer Terminal (LPT) or Universal Serial Bus (USB) port, and configure with RPOS 6 to get the benefits of peripheral devices.


Benefits of barcode scanner with RPOS 6

  • Manual entry of Data is not required.
  • Well Tested with POS. A Barcode scanner eliminates the possibilities of human error.
  • Reduce employee training time by minimizing the training time for the business process flow.
  • Data acquired through the barcode is available instantly.
  • The integration of a barcode scanner is cost-effective, which is by preventing costly errors in the transactions.

Steps for the peripheral setting of Barcode Scanner:
  1. Click Tools > Configuration Manager > Device Settings.
  2. The Device Configuration screen is displayed, click Peripheral Settings.



  3. Click Barcode Scanner.
  4. The Peripheral Settings [Barcode Scanner] screen is displayed.



  5. In the Barcode Scanning Enable field, press SPACE BAR to select.
    Note: On selecting the Barcode Scanning Enable, a barcode scanner gets enabled.
  6. Based on the device manager, the changes in configuration are made for the options mentioned below
    • Connect using
    • Bits Per Second
    • Data Bits
    • Parity
    • Stop Bits
    • Flow Control
    Note: For more detail on the values of the above-mentioned point, click Hyper Terminal Configuration
  7. In the UPC/EAN Barcode Enabled field, press SPACE BAR to select.
    Note: On selecting the UPC/EAN Barcode Enabled option, the barcode scanner scans the UPC/EAN code with its price.
  8. In the Eancode with Selling field, press SPACE BAR to select.
    Note:
    • On selecting Eancode with Selling option, a new Selling column is displayed in the Item wise EAN code.
    • To see the effect of Eancode with Selling,
      • Save the changes to the barcode scanner screen.
      • Click Inventory > Master > Item wise EAN code.



    • A new column for Selling is displayed.
  9. Click Save.
  10. A message Do you want to save current changes? is displayed.



  11. Click Yes.
  12. A confirmation message is displayed. Click OK.
  13. Click Exit.
  14. A message Do you want to exit from this screen? is displayed.



  15. Click Yes to close the screen.
