What is a discount coupon?

Introduction

A discount coupon is a card offered by retailers to the customers for promoting their sales. The discount coupon is generally issued free and sometimes issued based on the loyalty points acquired by the customer in the retail store. Each discount coupon has a certain financial value which can be exchanged for cash at the time of buying goods in the retail outlet. In cases where two or more outlets function under an integrated HQ environment, the discount coupon issued at one outlet can be redeemed at any other outlet(s). Some discount coupons have a validity period that the customer can not use the coupon for cash discount once the validity period is over.

The Discount Coupon module in RPOS7 comprises of:

  • Discount Coupon Master – Defining the name, serial number, type and value for the Discount Coupon
  • Discount Coupon Creation – Generating serial numbers for the Discount Coupon based on the data from Discount Coupon Master. This is applicable only for the discount coupons created as 'Coupon Serial Number - Generated' under Discount Coupon - Master.
  • Discount Coupon Issue – Issuing the Discount Coupon to the customer for redemption
  • Discount Coupon Redemption - Redeeming the coupon for a discount
