EAN stands for European Article Number, which consists of 13 digits ( 8 digits if the product is small), is the type of bar code that is used internationally to identify unique products at the Point of Sale. EAN’s are a series of numbers set against a bar line graphic, that is generated by the manufacturer.
Each product has its own article number which is unique and cannot be found again worldwide. With this article number, an EAN can be generated and this can be applied to products as a barcode.
Benefit of EAN code: Using EAN code, saves a lot of time in the warehouse and sales department because the products can be identified in seconds.
Benefits of EAN code wise scan only mode:
By using this mode, only EAN codes and batch-wise barcodes can be scanned. The scanning of normal barcodes is not supported.
How to scan EAN codes and batch-wise codes in RetailEasy 6?
Note: To scan EAN codes and batch-wise codes, click on the check box 'Enable Eancode wise scan only mode'
Step 1: In the StockTake module of GoSure, click on 'Start Scanning' to scan EAN codes.
Step 2: A pop-up screen appears, to select the batch of the item when you start scanning. After selecting the batch, you can scan the items of the same batch continuously.
Step 3: To scan a different batch of the same item, click on 'Change Batch', select the batch and proceed to scan. Now, you can scan the items of the selected batch continuously.
Step 4: If you scan the EAN code of a different item, the pop-up appears again to select the batch of the new item, for which stock count is to be done
Step 5: If the previously scanned item is scanned again, the batch is to be selected for that item from the pop-up.
Step 6: To make the stock count of damaged items, click on the broken bottle-like icon in the scanning screen and start scanning. By clicking on the specific item, you can view the damage count and the batch of items in which damage was there.
NOTE: You can scan the damaged item by making changes in configuration in the web app. Disable the option 'Do not display damage entry option in mobile' under Settings --> 'Stock Taking Configuration' of Stock Take module in GoSure
Step 7: You can delete an item, by swiping the particular item towards the left of the screen and clicking 'Yes' on the confirmation screen.
ANNEXURE:
(1) The EAN codes of scanned items can be viewed in the 'Discrepancy report' tab of the Stock Take web-app
(2) You can scan the EAN codes and batch-wise barcodes by using the barcode scanner and also can be entered manually, by choosing the option in the scanning screen.
(3) Using the 'Manually enter barcode' option, you can scan batch-wise barcodes and the quantity will be counted automatically, without selecting the batch
Conclusion: Using the Eancode wise scan only mode, you can scan the EAN codes and batch-wise barcodes of an item. You can scan EAN codes of different items continuously. If there are multiple batches for an item, you can select the batch manually. Confirmation is not required after stock counting each item. You can disable this option on the configuration page.
